1. Switch Mediums.

This is sort of like reinventing the wheel because what you do is find something that works in one field and apply it to another. Let's take advertising as an example. Advertising worked on billboards for a long time so what if we moved it over to television? Then we move it over to radio and eventually advertising exists on every single media.

To give a more precise example, what if we made an auction site simply for cell phones? It worked well for computers so why not with another piece of technology? Take color copies and make them for the computer. Just take something that works for one category and move it to another. It may not work for most things, but that's a good thing because once you find the thing that does work, cha-ching!

2. Make Life Easier for Somebody.

People love automated things even if they will never use it. That's why we have automatic can openers, automatic vacuum cleaners, and pretty much automatic everything. Try coming up with something that automates like a toilet bowl that cleans itself regularly or puts the seat down after you have used it. It is stupid ideas like that, that make all of the money. Plus, nobody likes to clean and maids are too expensive.

3. Wouldn't It Be Cool If…?

Whenever somebody says something along those lines, you should pay attention because they might just give you the next idea. This works really well for websites because people always want something new and tastes change all the time. There are more ideas that have not been discovered than have so don't think that everything has been made yet.

This may be the hardest thing, but even if the idea is stupid, as long as people go to the website you have a good chance of making a lot of money. It seems that the stupider the website is, the more people like it so don't let that stop you.

It's hard coming up with an idea because you are not sure if it will work or not. If it won't make you go bankrupt though why not give it a shot?
