So you sold a couple items on eBay or at least have tried to list them and notice that they aren't doing quite as well as you had hoped. There are four different things you have to make sure you've done before your item gets the amount of money they should. If you follow these four rules then almost any item can be sold (good luck selling that dirty pair of underwear though).

1. Make sure your items are spelled correctly. If you don't spell your items correctly then how are people going to find them? You'd be surprised how many people spell simple items the wrong way and never make a sale because of it. On the flip side, you can get great deals by looking for poorly spelled words on eBay such as Xbox 306 instead of an Xbox 360. By having the name spelled incorrectly, people won't be able to access the item unless they type it in incorrectly which won't happen very often. You only hurt yourself by having poor spelling.

2. Pay a little bit more if it gets more views. If you're selling color copies for five cents apiece or something then you probably don't want to spend money showcasing your item. However, if you are looking to make a couple hundred dollars off of a sale, it's definitely worth it to spend another five dollars to make sure your item gets seen more than others. That's just good marketing. If you have many of the same item then it's even more imperative that you do that. In the end you will make more money because somebody may be looking exactly for that item and only that item and doesn't want to waste time.

3. Give a good description. One strategy to make money on eBay is to simply buy items that had a poor description and resell them again with a good description. This goes double for antiques because people want details and they don't want to waste time asking questions so they will simply look for another item. This is really useful if you are knowledgeable about certain objects because it's easy to spot something that should have more information.

4. Don't list your item for its selling price. If Xboxes sell for $200 on eBay then don't put the starting price at $200 because nobody is going to bid on it. Put it for $50 so that people can bid because somebody will not let that Xbox go for $50. That's what bidding is all about and people can't bid if there's no room to go anywhere. Be patient and the price will go up.
