Your iPhone has the potential to be your most powerful sales tool, if you take full advantage of what it has to offer.  You can use your iPhone to stay in touch with clients, to manage your travel and expenses and to coordinate everything going on in the office. The only thing it won’t do is run color copies, but you have an assistant for that!  Your iPhone also has some cool applications, that let you do something a little extra special, that no one may expect, and I’m not talking about the ifart application here, people! Here are five ideas to try.

1. Send Personalized email Postcards instead of a boring status update.

The Postman application form Freeverse, Inc., has an easy to use interface, which allows you to take a picture and then use one of their cool templates to create and emailable postcard.  It will definitely make your email stand out from your competition’s.  This goes WAY beyond, “Wish you were here!”

2. Text Message Your Clients for Free

Text messaging is a great way to stay in touch with clients, but it can become costly very quickly. Textfree Unlimited, by Pinge, Inc., allows you to send and receive text messages from any iPhone or US mobile phone for free.  Just don’t let your teenager in on the secret!

3. Manage Your Twitter Account Easily from Anywhere

Lot’s of us today, use Twitter as a key business tool.  Being able to manage it successfully on the go can be challenging.  If you are a fan of TwitterDeck for your Desktop, good news is you can now have it for your iPhone.  It helps organize your Twitter account like nothing else can.  Tweet like you mean it!

4. Be a Know It All

Clients don’t expect you to know everything about them, but if you want to make the sale, knowing when key life events are happening like birthdays, and anniversaries, can make all of the difference.  Occasions, by Hand Carved Code, LLC , is a great application for tracking important client occasions.  What I love about it is that it pops up and tells you what you need to remember, versus having to go and look at the application each day.  Hey, you could even send divorce anniversary flowers to your uncle in Florida!

5. Entertain with Style

The client dinner is one of the cornerstones of sales, but if you want to make an impression you had better know your stuff, and not just which fork to use for salad versus dessert!  Selecting the perfect wine can be intimidating.  Check out the Wine Ratings Guide, by Nirvino, for an easy to use application that takes the stress out of the client dinner… of course the cool factor is reduced if you’re scrolling through under the nose of the sommalier!
